About me and my therapy practice
As a humanistic counsellor, I am interested in understanding each person’s unique experience of distress.
As well as listening and providing a space in which you can speak freely and openly, I am likely to be curious about different aspects of what you are sharing with me and to engage in dialogue to support your exploration of whatever you need to explore, so you can discover new meanings, possibilities and different choices.
Having spent a considerable amount of time in both the therapist's and the client's chair, I know something of the vulnerability of talking about things that are not easy to say. Because of this I will always strive to offer you compassion without judgement along with a calm, sensitive approach.
I also bring to my practice a deep appreciation of the beauty of different cultures; and of the creativity and tenacity of the human spirit to not only survive but to grow and break free of self-limiting beliefs.
Along with being a counsellor for the charity MIND, I work in private practice offering individual online counselling on Zoom. Sessions are 50 minutes and I work only with adults.
I see a wide range of people with diverse problems such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, grief and loss, trauma, abuse, feelings of guilt and shame, relationship issues, loss of purpose or feeling stuck. Whatever has brought you to reading my page, you can feel free to discuss it with me by getting in touch on email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on 07874289774.
My first session
Before the first session, I offer a free of charge telephone conversation which will give you the opportunity to get a sense of how I work and to ask any questions you might have, without any obligation to book an appointment. To help me assess whether I can offer you a suitable level of support, I will ask about your reasons for seeking counselling, your prior experiences with counselling or psychological health services and what support you have available. I will explain my contractual terms and if our schedules align, we can arrange an initial session.
I invite you to use the first session as you need and if afterwards you decide to continue counselling with me, I will require a signed copy of my contract before the second session.
