About me and my therapy practice
When my career as a Royal Military Police Officer came to a natural end I pursued my passion as a counsellor because I had already supported others for years through their issues of addiction, bereavement, domestic violence, eating disorders, suicidal ideation/attempts.
I am a qualified counsellor in the modalities of EMDR (Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Counselling (PCT), Child and Adult Trauma focused therapy, Integrative counselling and Clinical Hypnotherapy.
I have my own private practice and I am employed as an Assessment Officer & Counsellor offering support to adults, young people and children who have been affected by sexual violence.
I also have counselling experience in prisons, working with some very complex clients who suffer from PTSD, trauma, mental health issues, bereavement, disassociation and relationship problems.
Practice description
Life can be tough, filled with challenges which have helped to build your character, but it may also be such experiences which have led you to seek counselling support.
Through guidance and support, in a safe space free from judgement or external influences, you will be able to explore whatever you choose, at a pace comfortable for you, around issues and experiences you wish to share.
Your life experiences, cultural background and upbringing are some of the reasons that make you unique! Therefore anything you wish to work through in therapy will be tailored specifically to your individual needs. There is a vast range of issues which clients may bring to therapy - anxiety, depression, PTSD, emotional, physical or sexual abuse and OCD to name but a few. Maybe you are currently feeling stuck, unable to share things that have happened, with people close to you.
Perhaps you are very self critical, lack confidence and have low self-esteem, affecting your happiness and relationships. You may be struggling to move on with your life following the loss of a loved one, job, pet or home.
No matter what the problem is, counselling can help you to explore and understand events and relationships past and present. It will enable you to process anything which is preventing you from being happy, enabling you to come to terms with, accept or move forward with your life.
My first session
During the first session I will carry out an in depth assessment. This will identify problems that are causing you pain and unhappiness, areas which I can support you through.
We will then discuss the options of therapy such as; talking, directive or integrative and adapt therapy to suit your needs.
I believe in helping you to get the most out of every session, ensuring your therapy only lasts for as long as required.
