About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified psychotherapist with experience in clinical and private settings. My expertise is in intimate relationships and I use a combination of psychodynamic, attachment-based and Jungian approaches to help individuals think about their relationships.
Relationships are the most important and most difficult part of our existence. They can be the place where we feel the most creative and alive but they can also leave us vulnerable to abandonment, unhealthy dependancy, feelings of impotence and despair. My aim is to open a safe space where fears, doubts and anxieties around intimacy can be understood and worked through. If you are struggling with relationships, it feels difficult to find a partner, a recent break-up is keeping you hostage or your relationships are following the same pattern, it might be crucial to find someone you can talk to. We can also explore issues around sexual identity, desire, sexual abuse, affairs and betrayal.
Sometimes the way we are in relationships is linked with childhood experiences and traumas. The ways our first love objects have met our needs can have a profound impact on our mental health, self-esteem, and ability to pursue our desires in the present. You can't change your past but it is important to explore these so they don't determine your future.
I also work with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, loss and bereavement. I'm very interested in giftedness and I'm aware how vulnerable and sensitive gifted people can be. I have experience in student counselling and I work with young artists in Royal College of Art.
I have done a rigorous training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at WPF Therapy - one of the most established institutions in the UK. I hold a PhD in Cultural Anthropology and have a deep interest in the areas of culture, identity, and narratives that shape out thinking. I have accomplished a number of courses at the Society of Analytical Psychology.
I see people in person in my office in Notting Hill, just 1 minute from Notting Hill Station. If you prefer, we can do the sessions via Zoom or phone.
