About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified psychotherapist with experience in clinical and private settings. I am trying, alongside you, to find the underlying cause for your distress.
There might be many reasons for feeling anxious or depressed. In my experience this often happens when we feel it is impossible to be our true selves in our relationships, families, or in the society in general. In such cases it is important to reach out and find someone you can talk to instead of bottling everything up.
Sometimes new experiences in life affect us in certain ways because of previous traumas. The ways our first love objects have met our needs can have a profound impact on our mental health, self-esteem, and ability to pursue our desires in the present. Lack of understanding or conflicts with parents or siblings can affect one's very sense of self and how they are in the world. You can't change your past but it is important to explore these so they don't determine your future.
My expertise is in interpersonal relationships and I use a combination of psychodynamic, attachment-based and Jungian approaches to help individuals think about their relationships. Relationships can be the place where we feel the most creative and alive but they can also leave us vulnerable to betrayal, abandonment, abuse, unhealthy dependancy, feelings of impotence and despair. My aim is to open a safe space where fears, doubts and anxieties around intimacy can be understood and worked through.
I have done a rigorous training at WPF Therapy - one of the most established institutions in the UK. I hold a PhD in Cultural Anthropology and have a deep interest in the areas of culture, identity, and narratives that shape out thinking.
I'm interested in giftedness and I'm aware how vulnerable and sensitive gifted people can be. I'm experienced in student counselling and I work with young artists in Royal College of Art.
I see people in person in my office in Notting Hill, just 1 minute from Notting Hill Station. If you prefer, we can do the sessions via Zoom or phone.
