About me and my therapy practice
Due to COVID-19, face to face counselling can be conducted using a large protective, transparent screen, 2 metre distanced seating & hand sanitiser readily available, in line with current government recommendations.
At times, life can leave us feeling challenged. Whether it is an inability to make a big life decision, a relationship difficulty, a job change, school or peer issues, loss of identity, a death, or a birth. These things can leave us feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious or depressed & may lower our self-esteem & confidence.
Counselling is often one of the most human encounters that a person can experience, & it is about understanding the self that you are. This may mean letting go of the limiting stories you have told yourself about who you are so that you are no longer trapped by them or living your life defined by them. These stories, & subsequent beliefs & patterns of behaviours, may have come from your past & with the support and guidance that therapy offers these stories can be explored, questioned & revised.
For change to occur, trust (in the therapeutic relationship) is required which is why I offer genuine acceptance, empathy, & a non-judgmental approach. I aim to help people feel safe & validated & I tailor the therapy to the individual.
I have experience working with young people 14yrs +, adults, & families & I have a wealth of experience working with anxiety, low self-esteem & trauma. I have worked with several well-known local charity organisations since 2012.
I work from a Private & tranquil purpose-built counselling room on the outskirts of Norwich with ample free parking, seating that is 2 meters apart & using a protective, transparent, Perspex screen, in accordance with the current COVID-19 government recommendations. I regularly monitor progress to ensure that counselling is effective & beneficial for each client. I regularly attend Continuing Professional Development Training to keep up to date with the latest research outcomes & therapeutic interventions to give my clients the most informed therapy that I can offer.
My first session
In that first session, we will meet to discuss what brings you to therapy & address any questions or concerns you might have. The initial assessment session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work & to decide if I feel the right counsellor for you. If you decide to continue, we can then arrange a regular time & day of the week that works for you.
Individual therapy is £40 for 1 hour session & couples or family session is £55 for 1 hour 15 mins.
Please feel free to contact me to find out more or ask any questions.
I can be contacted without obligation for a confidential, informal chat by e-mail, text or telephone.
For clients under 18 it can understandably be quite a new process to start counselling so I would recommend that the young person be accompanied by a responsible adult on their first visit.
