About me and my therapy practice
I’m an accredited Humanistic Integrative Counsellor. I trained in a range of models that I draw from in our work together. I believe we are all unique individuals and need therapy which embraces our uniqueness rather than expecting us to fit in with one particular way of working.
We benefit most from counselling and psychotherapy when we feel safe and accepted; for our weaknesses and our strengths. When we enter into a trusting therapeutic relationship, we are able to heal, grow and move our lives forward. I offer a safe and welcoming counselling space where we can explore what has brought you to counselling.
My experience includes working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse and trauma; drug, alcohol and other addictions; relationship difficulties and breakdown, mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and Bipolar; bereavement and loss; feeling 'stuck' in life, feeling "is this it" and work with children and young people. I offer both short and long-term therapy.
I trained as a therapist as I believe at times in life we can feel isolated, alone and unable to cope. We may be surrounded by friends and family but not feel we can share our problems, anxieties or fears; because they won't understand, we don't want to burden them, we fear rejection, feel shame, or because we may just not have anyone to turn to.
Counselling is a unique relationship where you can explore your worries and difficulties without fear of judgement, shame or rejection. Together, we can work through whatever is causing you pain and distress so that you can make sense of, and process, your experiences from the past and present so that you can make different choices about your future.
In addition to my Counselling training I have undertaken a range of further qualifications to enhance my practice. I am a qualified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Practitioner and am also a qualified Therapeutic Coach, integrating this into my therapy where appropriate.
