About me and my therapy practice

I have an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute, together with a Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, and a Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling, also from the Metanoia Institute. I am a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional [CSTIP], and a registered member of the BACP and of UKCP.

I practise non-judgementally and specialise in working with individual clients experiencing, for instance: low self-esteem; shame; anger; existential despair; anxiety; isolation; dissociation; eco-anxiety; challenges around sex and relationship; issues of identity.

It's my belief that we often experience life and its challenges in ways that feel unique to us. In our work together I will honour your experience and, through paying close attention to your story, I will invite you to be curious about the themes and patterns which emerge.

It can sometimes feel as though we don’t have much control over our life and how it impacts us. By sharing your story in a safe therapeutic space, I aim to support you to discover new meanings, new strategies for coping, and new ways to take authorship of the next chapters of your life.

Practice description

Whether you wish to work in-person or online, for a short time (6-12 sessions), or on an open-ended basis, I offer individuals a judgement-free 50-minute weekly space to confidentially explore issues of personal concern.

My in-person practice is based in Kington, Herefordshire.

I am currently offering appointments with start times from 08.00 to 19.30 on Mondays and Thursdays.

My first session

At your first session I will been keen to learn what has brought you to counselling, and what you want to get out of the process. How effectively we can make the process work will depend on the quality of our therapeutic relationship, and because we won’t have met before, I believe it’s vital that our initial 50 minute session allows us the maximum opportunity to sense how well we might work together. For this reason I will not take up much of your time with formal practicalities, and although I will hand you the counselling agreement and we will discuss its main points, I will not ask you to sign it at the session. I will offer you another appointment, but, since I believe in the power of reflection, I will invite you to take a few hours after your initial session to make up your mind about working with me. If you decide you would like to, you can return the agreement to me, and we will discuss and complete the remaining small number of practical requirements at your next session.
