About me and my therapy practice

Adults

For therapy to work you have got to feel safe and get on with your therapist. I am a big believer in the power of the therapeutic relationship and as such my clients tend to feel valued, relaxed and seen and treated like the normal human being that they are.  I love what neurobiology is teaching us every day and integrate my knowledge of this into how I show up with you from the first session.  I encourage honest feedback from you whenever you feel you want to share it.

Whatever you are feeling, talking therapy offers you a safe, confidential and non judgemental space that can help you figure out what is going on in your inner and outer worlds and the relationship itself can facilitate an exploration of yourself in the world; a place where you can safely try things a bit differently and see what happens

Young People

Sometimes sitting and staring at someone doesnt make you feel like you want to talk. So I am led by the young person in front of me - Through this relational approach most young people quickly feel heard and understood as well as beginning to understand a little more how their mind works why: The space is made available for you to start to think and feel your way forwards; empowered to make decisions aboutyour future and relationships from a sense of your integrated, solid and flexible self.

Children

For counselling to help with whatver issues your child is facing, it is vital that they feel safe and relaxed; that things are undemanding but boundaried; free but held.

I use story play, art and drama and anything else that you child is interested in! Through these, your child will process and explore their past, present and their future. Sometimes this exploration is verbalised and at others it remains in the right hemisphere of the brain; somehow allowing an integration and a settling of the mind having worked through fears, anxieties or traumas.

Practice description

About Me

Hi there. I’m a humanistic, integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, which means I draw from a wide range of therapeutic approaches while always keeping the client at the heart of the work. This flexible way of working allows me to meet each person where they are, helping them explore their experiences and move toward healing and growth in a way that feels right for them.

I believe we each hold the inner resources needed for change, and that through a safe, trusting relationship, it becomes possible to reflect deeply, understand patterns, and reconnect with what truly matters in life and relationships.

My approach is responsive and collaborative. Alongside traditional talk therapy, I sometimes incorporate creative methods such as art, play, movement, mindfulness, and self-compassion practices—always at the client’s pace.

I trained at BCPC in Bath, a highly respected institution, and am a registered member of both BACP and UKCP. I work under regular supervision with a fully accredited supervisor to ensure the quality and integrity of my practice.

Areas I Work With

Some of the themes I support clients with include:

Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Trauma, Spirituality, Inner Child Work, Dreams, the Unconscious, and Self-Compassion.

My work is informed by person-centred theory (Carl Rogers), and integrates (although not exclusively): Attachment Theory; Gestalt Therapy; Psychodynamic, Existential and Transpersonal approaches; Polyvagal Theory; and self-compassionate mindfulness. If you are thinking too much, I will help you access your feelings; if you are feeling too much, I will help you access your thinking capacities; and if you are doing too much, I will help you to slow down and sit with whatever is there for you.

My first session

For adults, I offer a half price assessment session in which we both have a chance to see what it might be like to work together. I tend to ask a few questions of your recent and more distant past, as well as try to get a sense of where you are at now and what support networks you have around you.

For young people (11-18) I will speak to you on the phone or via email and we will go from there. I will always offer a free phone consultation of 15 minutes

For children, I will meet with the parent/s or carers first for a half rate session  and then we will go from there.
