About me and my therapy practice

I offer a space for you to reflect on the issues in your life that matter to you.

The environment that you work or live in - the people in your life - they may all having an impact on you. I offer a space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings & emotions; helping you find your voice and connecting to your true self.

Trust is important in the process of exploration and is key to the way that I practice. I work in an affirming and non-judgemental way - focusing on creating a space where you can feel safe to explore your emotions and feelings.....especially those which are seen as difficult or negative.

Discrimination, prejudice, inequalities and 'othering' can impact on our confidence and self-esteem. Feeling different - that you don't belong - can cause stress, confusion, anxiety, anger and frustration.

I will honour your emotions and work with you to understand your experiences; how they may have influenced you and to begin to connect to your true self.

Practice description

I practice by integrating a number of therapeutic approaches - psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive behavioural therapies.

I work in an affirming & non-judgemental way; creating a supportive space where you can feel safe to explore difficult thoughts & feelings that maybe holding you back. A space where you can begin to understand what you want; where you can begin to heal and start to think about your potential - accepting yourself, your values & your goals.

I have extensive experience of working with identity and difference and have helped clients begin their own journeys of self discovery.

I'm not here to tell you what to do and I don't have a wand that can make things better. What I do commit to is to work with you to develop a deep and trusted connection that will help you develop an awareness of your what drives your thoughts, behaviours and emotions. You will find support, understanding and empathy; and you will also find challenge and honesty.

My first session

I understand that identifying a therapist to work with can feel a daunting task. I offer a free 20 minute conversation for you to get a feel of my practice and who I am.

When I work with clients, I use the initial sessions to allow the client to explain why you've sought therapy and more about you as a person. And if the response is I don't know what has really brought me to therapy - that's absolutely fine - we can work on that together.

There are no such things as a silly question so please do get in touch if you have any questions. The important thing is for you to get the information you need to make a decision that you are comfortable with.
