About me and my therapy practice

You may be going through a difficult time in your life, or perhaps you want to understand long-standing issues that have troubled you in order to move forward. Counselling can give you insight into, and support for, your problems by providing a space for you to talk, be heard and consider how things might change.

Generally, I provide short-term counselling of 12 weeks to look at a specific problem, or longer-term, open-ended counselling for those who wish to explore their emotions and behaviours in a greater depth.

Practice description

The counselling I provide is based on the psychodynamic approach, which explores how past relationships and experiences have influenced how you react to life’s challenges and problems. By identifying and focusing on the unconscious processes going on within, you will consciously begin to understand why you feel and react the way you do. 

This knowledge will allow you to make real changes in your relationships and your approach to life. For short-term counselling I use the Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy approach, which is more direct and active. 

My first session

Each journey begins with the first step, and for counselling it begins with an initial interview. During this first session, I will ask you many questions about yourself. This will help me to identify your reasons for wanting counselling. I will then have a profile of your past and present circumstances and your relationships with partners, family and others. We will then agree the length of time and the fees.
