About me and my therapy practice

Hi, My name is Diane, and I am a Person-centred Counsellor. I am able to offer warm, compassionate counselling from Huddersfield or Meltham, as well as remote sessions on zoom or over the phone.

While I work with people with a wide range of issues, I specialise in working with people who have issues from their past that continue to make life difficult today.

These past issues could have arisen from a number of things, some people may have experienced trauma and abuse in childhood. Others may be struggling to process relationships that they found difficult. Previous bereavement and loss can be another area that clients sometimes wish to look at. Sometimes though, it can be hard to put the issues that you want to talk about into words, this isn't unusual, and if it helps, we can discuss this at an initial consultation.

I originally trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor. Because of this, I feel that the relationship between counsellor and client is really important. Respect is at the centre of how I work,  during sessions I work hard to help people feel at ease, I work at their pace, and I am led by what is important to them. My aim is to provide a compassionate presence, where clients can feel safe to talk about their emotions without fear of judgement.

Since qualifying, I have also attended training in other disciplines, including Polyvagal Theory and the use of creative techniques. Both of these techniques can be useful for working with trauma, and this training has given me additional skills to meet each client's individual needs.

My previous counselling experience has also included working with men and women who have experienced sexual abuse, providing specialist domestic abuse counselling, working with those experiencing addiction, working with loss, relationship issues, stress and low self-esteem.

Practice description

I am now offering face-to-face sessions from both Huddersfield and Meltham and in addition, I also offer remote sessions over Zoom or the telephone.

Whichever way you choose, I am passionate about providing an environment where you can feel heard, and safe to explore the issues that are concerning you without fear of judgment.

My fees are £40 for each 50-minute session and I offer concessions for Trainee Counsellors.

I also understand the importance of confidentiality in the counselling relationship. Throughout the time that we work together, your privacy will be important to me and I am committed to taking care of your personal information. Before any counselling starts we will discuss this in more detail, and I have included a link to my Privacy Policy on my Website.

My first session

I understand that the relationship between the client and the counsellor is really important, sometimes it can just be useful to get a feeling of what it might be like talking to the other person before you commit to working with them.

Because of this, I offer a free, 30-minute telephone consultation without any obligation. This session gives you the chance to ask any questions that you might have, and for us to get to know each other a little better.

I can understand that it can be difficult reaching out for the first time, but please be assured that anything you say will be treated with respect.
