About me and my therapy practice
ONLINE THERAPY ONLY until the lockdown is lifted - A fully qualified, insured and experienced psychotherapist with a demonstrated history of working with mental health and wellbeing in different sectors such as private practice, National Health Service (NHS) and charitable sector. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) I offer Brief Psychodynamic Counselling, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and a Gender Sexuality and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) Therapy or a combination of them tailored accordingly to the clients’ needs.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I work exploring how your early childhood experiences and early relationships can shape your present relationships and circumstances, creating repeated patterns of relationships. I am also a Gender Sexuality & Relationship Diversities (GSRD) therapist. GSRD is a more inclusive term to replace the acronym LGBTQ+.
In this modern world the struggle for meaning, for existence, impacts each individual differently. As individuals, we have to face numerous problems and overcome many difficulties in our lives. The impact of these struggles leads to people feeling symptoms that range from stress, anxiety, depression etc., to a feeling of being stuck in their own lives.
Practice description
I am counsellor and psychotherapist in London and I offer Brief Psychodynamic Counselling, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and a Gender Sexuality and Relationship Diverse (GSRD)* therapy or the combination of them tailored accordingly to the clients’ needs.
Psychodynamic counselling includes exploring how our childhood experiences and early relationships can shape our present relationships and circumstances, creating patterns of relating and our own sense of self. These patterns, even though we are unaware of them and they may no longer reflect our adult experiences, are still present in our adult life. By being more aware of these patterns and how they impact the way in which we see the world, and our position in it, we can change this perception of the world in a way which assists us to live improved and better lives. I work one-on-one in order to fully support my clients to gain improved self-understanding so that they are then able to make more appropriate life choices and live more wholly. This process may involve uncovering the deeper origins of difficulties by exploring experiences, feelings, dreams, desires and patterns of relating that are contributing to present difficulties.
I may integrate psychodynamic counselling with gender and sexual diversity therapy and supportive counselling.
I am experienced psychotherapist working with clients who identify themselves as LGBT+ and those who are questioning, gender queer, trans and non-binary clients. I have experience of working with clients who do not use labels to define their sexuality or identity.
I abide by the BACP and BPC Code of Ethics and am DBS checked.
*'... those who are GSRD – that is, their gender, sexuality or relationship styles are diverse (or divergent) from cisgender, heterosexual, monogamous etc.'
