About me and my therapy practice
*I am currently only working online or telephone*
As a qualified humanistic counsellor, I will do my best to understand you and your experience, provide you with an environment where you can safely begin to trust and explore the issues that bring you to the counselling. Counselling can be an opportunity for exploration, healing, growth and change.
The humanistic counselling approach believes in the individual as a whole, everyone is unique, able to make their own decisions, to grow, change and realise their potential
The counselling relationship is based on trust, genuineness, acceptance and is supportive, healing, and at times can be challenging. It is very important to choose a counsellor you feel safe with, can relate to and feel comfortable. It is a relationship based on working together, not about decisions being made for you, but empowering you to find your own strength and resources.
I work ethically and with integrity within the BACP guidelines and ethical framework. All confidential information is stored within GDPR regulations.
I offer you a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space, for us to explore together what brings you to counselling.
I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation to see if it would be right for us go forward with sessions. Following sessions are via the online platform Zoom, if this is suitable for you.
We can talk about what brings you to counselling, your expectations and how counselling may help you. We can make an agreement to work together. There is no obligation, and you may wish for time to reflect before making a decision.
We can discuss how many sessions you may want or see how we go, reviewing regularly. I generally work opened-ended and sessions are unstructured and 50 minutes.
My first session
After your initial 30 minutes we can arrange your first session. We will contract to work together. This session is generally more getting to know you and us beginning our time together. Beginning to build this very important relationship to explore the issues you bring to counselling.
