About me and my therapy practice
I am a BAPT registered Play Therapist and children's counsellor. I work with children and young people up to the age of 16, and also offer parents and carers therapeutic coaching sessions. These sessions can be in person or online, whatever works best.
I have worked with children and families for over 20 years. I offer a playful, creative and relaxed space for your child to connect with their feelings, process past experiences and find their own unique way to move forward with hope and strength. If your child or young person is struggling, you've reached a tough patch as a parent, or it's hard for your child to fully 'bounce back' from Covid, we can arrange an initial session to explore what might be helpful for you and for them.
If now is not the time (for whatever reason) for your child to have 1:1 sessions, we can arrange a one off 1.5 hour therapeutic coaching session with you and any other important adults or family members. In this session I can signpost you towards helpful resources, strategies, agencies and creative ideas and help you come up with a plan to address whatever has brought you to see me, and follow up with a written plan that you can refer back to. We'll then have a review a month or so later to see what changed, and tweak the plan accordingly. The cost of this, including the review and the written is £150. This could be helpful if you are struggling with sibling rivalry or their are lots of big arguments in your household, in a limbo waiting for an ASC or ADHD assessment, or you you just want a space to think through what's happening for your family at the moment.
Practice description
My training is rooted in non directive, person centred approach, I believe that all children and families are different and that there is no magical 'one size fits all' approach.
Amongst many other issues, I have extensive experience working with anxiety and worry, friendship issues, school and exam stress, bereavement by suicide, school refusal, domestic violence and abuse, social withdrawal, separation anxiety, family change and separation and Misophonia.
My first session
I offer an initial free 30 minute parent/ carer phonecall to see if we would work well together, and what type of intervention might work for your child. Depending on the outcome of this, we may either arrange a one off coaching session with a review, or a further parent/carer assessment session (with your child's agreement) with a view to arranging 1:1 Play Therapy or counselling sessions.
