About me and my therapy practice

I offer a tranquil and private therapeutic space where you can explore what's going on for you. I can help you process events, find balance, face challenges or instigate change.

Therapy is a collaborative process -- together we work to understand your current situation to facilitate positive change. My work follows a talk therapy model, so sessions are structured a little like a conversation, with you leading the way. I offer insights that help you address the parts of your life where you feel stuck.

Practice description

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for you to get a sense of how working with me will feel and to ask questions. In turn, it gives me an idea of why you're seeking support at this time and what your expectations of therapy are.

The first session is crucial for establishing a foundation for the therapeutic relationship and setting the tone for future sessions - establishing a sense of trust and comfort is essential as it forms the basis for effective therapy.

Assessment:

I gather information about your background, current concerns and reasons for seeking therapy. This helps me understand your context, which informs my therapeutic approach.

Expectations:

Clarifying the therapeutic process, confidentiality and our roles as therapist and client is also crucial. It helps manage expectations and creates a transparent framework for our therapeutic relationship.

Exploring feelings and concerns:

I encourage you to express your feelings and concerns to provide some insight into the emotional aspects of your life. This exploration initiates a process of self-reflection and insight.

History and background:

Learning about your personal history, including family dynamics, significant life events and experiences, helps me gain a comprehensive understanding of you.

My therapeutic approach:

If you are curious, I can briefly explain my theoretical approach. This helps you to understand our therapeutic framework.

Addressing questions and concerns:

If you have any questions or concerns about the therapeutic process, the first session is an opportunity to address them to make sure that you feel informed and comfortable.

Collaborative approach:

Therapy is a collaborative process so your active participation is crucial for progress. This sets the stage for empowerment and a sense of control in your therapeutic journey.
