About me and my therapy practice
My background experience is working as a counsellor in universities, counselling students and staff (12 years). I have now been in private practice for 9 years. My interest lies in issues related to loss; difficulties with work or studies; difficulties with relationships; change of cultural environment; multilingualism; adjusting to different life stages.
I find that long-term work in an open-ended mode works best for most people, but I also offer short-term counselling when I feel it is appropriate and potentially beneficial for the issue brought by the client.
An initial appointment will last up to 70 minutes and my current fee for this is £65. I offer a brief telephone conversation, free of charge, prior to your booking an initial appointment.
All subsequent sessions will last 50 minutes. My current fees for these are £50 for day-time sessions and £60 for evening sessions. I also offer a few slots at concessionary rate (£40).
It might take more than one initial session for you to decide if you would like to go ahead with having counselling. This is an important decision which requires commitment by both parties. I consider an essential part of my work to provide a regular, stable space in which it will feel safe to think about problems and explore new perspectives. For that reason, once you have started counselling, sessions will be regular, on a once-weekly basis, and at a fixed time of mutual convenience. Any session cancelled by you will not be used for any other work and will be payable.
