About me and my therapy practice
Having had my own therapy years before, I began training to become a therapist in 2009 with the intention of being able to help others as I had been helped. My core model is psychodynamic but having gained my degree in integrative therapy, I am able to employ other models techniques where appropriate.
New clients can expect an open discussion about what they and I think would be the best approach for them at the beginning of the therapeutic relationship. They can expect to have regular reviews about the regularity and approach of therapy used to help them.
I am ready to listen to how your unique set of circumstances and experiences has brought you to this point in your life and for the two of us to work together to help you get to where you want to be mentally and emotionally.
We are all different in so many ways, two people experiencing an identical life event will likely think and feel very differently from each other about this, simply because they are different people with different backgrounds, different other life experiences, different characters and personalities and so much more. As unique individuals, every person has the right to be heard and helped if this is what they feel they need.
This is what I offer; an honest and open space for my clients to feel able to talk about whatever they feel they want to share, in confidence and without judgement and that about sums it up.
I am currently using the medium of Zoom and Skype to provide one to one sessions.
There is a possibility I may be able to offer face to face counselling again in the near future, observing social distancing advice and guidance.
Have been told I have a calming influence and have helped clients with past trauma issues, depression, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, PTSD and more. I have experience of supporting a person who is on the spectrum and couple counselling experience.
I would say I have the most experience helping people who have self esteem issues, lack of confidence, self loathing resulting in self harm which takes many forms and will be different for each person I support with mental and emotional health difficulties.
My first session
Your first session would be an assessment for you and I to introduce ourselves and see if we feel that I would be the right counsellor for you.
This assessment session is offered at the reduced price of £25.00 payable in advance.
You can expect to receive 50 minutes of time for us both to ascertain what type of therapy you might want/need and the expectations of both parties.
You will have the opportunity to tell me what has brought you to ask for help in the form of counselling and how much you feel able to disclose at this point is entirely for you to decide.
I will not ask from you more than you feel able to tell in this first session; although if you decide you would like to go ahead and begin counselling with me, I would need to take a few personal details.
I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office and will take the correct precautions to protect your personal information.
