About me and my therapy practice

Offering warmth and experience having worked with issues such as trauma following atrocities of war, childhood trauma including abuse, low self-esteem, self-harm, depression, anxiety, psychosomatic illness and pain, bereavement and loss and I have felt privileged to have been entrusted to help so many people to regain control over their mental, emotional and physical well being.

Supporting individuals in their goals to find inner peace, strength, self-growth and understanding, acceptance and management of difficult emotional and mental health issues.

Clients have ranged in age from young teens to elderly and have been diverse in gender, culture, creed, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability and learning ability.  I have experience of supporting people who consider themselves to be neuro divergent (previously referred to as the Autistic spectrum but not exclusive to this and now encompassing all those who experience the world and their emotions/thoughts differently to others).

Qualified in Psychodynamic and Integrative Counselling, I am able to offer a blend of modalities tailored to your individual needs. My niche is long term support dedicated to helping clients with complicated trauma but not limited to this.

I am ready to listen to how your unique set of circumstances and experiences has brought you to this point in your life and for the two of us to work together to help you get to where you want to be mentally and emotionally.

Practice description

With a calming influence and ability to promote a sense of ease in clients with past trauma issues, depression, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, PTSD and much more, I can offer flexibility on how therapy is delivered from long term Psychodynamic to shorter term CBT solutions and often using a blend of modalities to equip clients with the benefits of CBT coping strategies while working long term to address deep seated distress.

Offering face to face counselling locally, recognising the lifting of government restrictions regarding the pandemic may cause distress for some; I will remain respectful of individual preferences pertaining to the current Covid 19 status quo.

Online sessions continue to be available also, through Zoom or Skype if this is your preference.

Offering face to face sessions from my counselling room which is separate from my home.  Cleanliness of the surfaces in the Counselling room remains of paramount importance with hand sanitising gel also available.  I am happy to continue to wear a face mask to further protect you if you prefer. I have had all 3 vaccines and take a weekly home test to be sure I am practicing safely. Please do tell me when you make your enquiry, what your preference is regarding safety measures.

We are all different in so many ways and experience life events differently as a result. As unique individuals, every person has the right to be heard and helped if they seek it.

This is what I offer; an honest and open space for my clients to feel able to talk about whatever they feel they want to share, in confidence and without judgement and that about sums it up.

My first session

At your first assessment session, you will receive an honest and warm discussion about your expectations of the therapeutic relationship. We will cover regularity of sessions, discuss long term and short term solutions and you will have the opportunity to tell me what has brought you to see me.

This first meeting will also be an opportunity for you and I to introduce ourselves and see if we both feel I would be the right counsellor for you.

This assessment session is offered at the reduced rate of £35:00 payable in advance and will be at least as long as a regular session, 50 minutes, but may take a bit longer if you have a lot you would like to cover.

NB: Although my starting fee is listed at £50 per session, please be aware that couples and family therapy sessions start at £75 per session.

I will not ask from you more than you feel able to tell in this first session; although if you decide you would like to go ahead and begin counselling with me, I would need to take a few personal details.

I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office and will take the correct precautions to protect your personal information.

I am insured and have an up to date DBS Certificate.
