About me and my therapy practice
Are you looking for a deeper connection with yourself and others? Do you want to feel more confident and self-accepting? I can work with you to explore your emotions and discover your true self.
I believe that ALL emotions are valid and natural responses to lived experiences. Counselling allows you to feel and express these emotions in a safe and supportive space where you will not be judged or given advice.
My hope is that through our work together, you will learn to listen to yourself and discover your own inner capacity to face life's challenges.
I offer individual counselling to adults remotely (via Zoom or phone) or walk & talk sessions.
With online counselling, I offer the opportunity to work creatively with art materials, images and symbols. If you are interested, I usually suggest we introduce this after a few sessions, so we can build trust and see what themes emerge to explore creatively.
Walk & talk sessions take place in and around Stoke-On-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme. We agree to meet in a quiet, natural setting that has been risk-assessed as suitable for this type of therapy. I always begin with an online/phone session, to discuss whether this type of therapy is suitable, and to talk through the practicalities and boundaries of working in this way.
You may choose to have a mix of remote and walk & talk therapy, depending on your situation and needs.
Sessions take place on a regular basis, usually weekly or fortnightly (though this can be discussed if your needs are different). When you begin counselling, there is no expectation to commit to a minimum number of sessions. We can work in an open-ended way, and continue until it feels the time has come to end.

My first session
If you are interested in starting counselling with me, we can have a brief discussion either on the phone or by email/text, and get our first session booked in.
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. I will ask you to tell me more about what has brought you to counselling, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We will discuss how we can work safely and effectively together, and will explore the contract.
There is no obligation to book further sessions if you do not feel that I am the right person to work with you. What is most important is that you find someone you feel comfortable with and can open up to. Equally, if I feel you would be better supported by someone else, I will give you options for finding alternative therapists/ support.
