About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I am based online and in South and East London - I provide LGBTQ+ therapy and counselling for those who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, questioning, polyamorous, kink, ace etc. I offer short or long term individual therapy for adults and my work is queer positive, sex affirming, collaborative and fluid.
I work primarily with individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, however, this is not exclusively. My approach to therapeutic work is within an open and non judgemental mindset. You may be experiencing a wide range of challenges within your experiences and therapy may feel like an option for you to explore these more.
I am trained within an integrative approach to counselling. This means I work within different modalities of therapeutic thinking. My theoretical and practical approaches include humanistic, psychodynamic, relational, phenomenological, existential and pluralistic. Essentially, in a jargon free description, I focus on you and the experiences you’ve had that have brought you to therapy. Depending on what you wish to talk about, we may explore your earlier childhood experiences, what’s happening now for you and your goals and aspirations. My approach encapsulates the essence of your here and now experiences which may involve your past, your present and your future self.
Practice description
Please see below some of my counselling training. To note, I am currently studying for a post graduate diploma in therapy orientated towards individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ or have diversity within their relationships.
2023 - 2024: Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Therapy Diploma (Pink Therapy)
2020 - 2023: BSc (Hons) Counselling (University of East London)
2021: Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling (Counselling Tutor)
2021: Introduction to Trans Awareness Training (Gendered Intelligence)
Additionally, prior to my counselling training, I worked within media and marketing roles for 10 years. During my core training, I volunteered within various LGBTQ+ charities.
2022 - 2023: Volunteer Trainee Counsellor (elop)
2022: Listening Volunteer (Switchboard)
2021 - 2022: Group Volunteer (Opening Doors London)
My first session
The first session can sometimes be daunting and feel a bit odd to express how you’re feeling to a complete stranger. With that said, our first session will be a mix of establishing and agreeing our therapeutic framework, understanding your reasons for therapy and an opportunity for you to see if I may be a right therapeutic fit. After this we can then decide how you wish to move forward.
