About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Laura.
I am a warm and experienced therapist who will listen to your concerns with sensitivity and compassion.I offer a calm, supportive environment where you can freely express and 'unburden' yourself without the fear of being judged.Somewhere you will feel truly 'heard'.
I work relationally, which means I believe the ability to build a secure and trusting therapeutic relationship with you will be the foundation of our work together.
We are all unique individuals, so I will aim to understand as fully as possible your way of seeing, experiencing and being in the world. My integrative training means that I will choose to work with you using the therapeutic approach which I feel is the most appropriate for your particular needs.
Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore and process confusing and painful thoughts and feelings,in such a way that you are able to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, build your inner resources and move towards greater emotional freedom.
Do you struggle to accept and value yourself? Are self-limiting beliefs and behaviours keeping you stuck? Are you living your life to please other people and struggling to set healthy boundaries? Do you find yourself drawn to situations, behaviours or relationships that are unfulfilling or even harmful to you?
Discovering what these patterns are rooted in can be the first step to enabling positive change and healthier choices. I will use my insight and experience to work with you towards identifying any 'blocks' you may have and to develop the necessary strategies to enable you to make any changes you would like to see happen in your life.
I offer one to one counselling to adults and young people.
I offer short-term counselling (6-12 weeks ) and long-term counselling, where we will review the work regularly (every 6 weeks )
Face to face, online (via zoom) and telephone counselling available.
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (BACP accredited).I follow the BACP ethical framework within my practice, have regular supervision and am fully insured.
As well as my private practice, I am currently working for an organisation that provides counselling to teenagers and young adults.
My past experience includes working within an agency providing short and long-term counselling to adults.I have also worked in a school providing counselling to teenagers as well as volunteering at a local Hospice.
I have particular experience of working with depression, anxiety, self-harm, low self-esteem, trauma and abuse.
My first session
Making the decision to start counselling and finding the right counsellor can feel daunting. I offer a free, no obligation, 20 minute telephone consultation to enable you to 'get a feel for me', ask any questions you may have and for me to find out what is bringing you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it.
