About me and my therapy practice

I work with people who are trying to making sense of their place in the world, exploring questions of meaning, purpose and identity.

If you're considering therapy, you may know what you want to work on, but feel stuck, frustrated, or in need of some support. You may know that something's not right but not know where to start.

Psychotherapy is a space for you to discuss what's on your mind in a non-judgemental collaborative setting. My job as a therapist is to help you explore and reflect on your situation, hearing your point of view with compassion, honesty, and respect.

This is a chance for you to tell your story, and make sense of what it means.

Practice description

My approach is:

Humanistic

The foundation of my approach is humanistic and person centred. This means your experience of your life is the most important subject of therapy. You ultimately have the capacity to understand your world better than anyone else.

A key principle of this perspective is the understanding that everyone has an innate capacity to move towards what's best for them, given the right conditions - the aim of therapy is to provide those conditions.

Integrative

Anything can inspire change and insight in the right context, but there are a few particular ways of thinking I refer to during therapy:

Existentialism - How do you find meaning in life?

Narrative - What stories do you hear and tell?

Mindfulness - What's going on right here in the present moment?

Meaningful engagement - How do you engage with your life and your endeavours?

How we approach therapy will depend on your aims and preferences. I aim to meet you where you are, adapting to your needs; integrating new understanding with your current worldview.

Collaborative

I work collaboratively. This means forming a shared understanding of what's going on for you - your current circumstances, what you want to change, and what's getting in the way.

My job is to help you tackle themes like these as clearly and authentically as possible, providing a safe environment for growth and exploration.

My first session

Free Initial Consultation

- It's important to make an informed choice and find the right therapist for you, so I'm happy to offer a free 25 minute initial consultation.

- This is an opportunity to ask me any questions you have about therapy and what it would be like to work together, and make sure you feel it's a good fit.
