About me and my therapy practice

I operate as an Integrative Counsellor for adults and children, meaning that I believe that a blend of congruent counselling theories is most effective in helping a client. I work from a place of unconditional positive regard for my clients and handpick evidence-based techniques to use for each individual. As each person is unique, I believe counselling is not a "one size fits all" formula and primarily lean towards the following theories and core beliefs.

  • Person-Centered Therapy, built upon the belief that each person has a vast potential for understanding themselves, self-actualizing, and solving their own problems within the support of a warm and trusting counselling relationship
  • Adlerian Therapy which believes that the person can only be understand by looking at the whole complete being, emphasizing that where we are striving to go is more important than where we have come from
  • Existential Therapy which emphasizes self-awareness, freedom of choice, & the search for meaning in life and death
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which takes note of how our thoughts, emotions, and actions are connected and influence one another. Cognitive distortions, faulty assumptions, and misconceptions are explored and modified
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy which highlights client's strengths and resources and creates solutions in the present moment

I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling in the U.S.A. I began my career working therapeutically with children in a school for neuro-diverse students, primarily the Autism Spectrum. I became a member of the BACP upon relocation to the UK and currently work with adults on a range of topics, including anxiety, depression, social issues, pre-post-bereavement, grief, and abuse, to name a few. I attend counselling supervision fortnightly.
