About me and my therapy practice
Before discussing how I work, I would like to answer this question:
When do we seek therapy?
When we feel overwhelmed, depressed, stressed, anxious, stagnated, confused, challenged, lonely...when we are unhappy. Simple like that. And what are some therapy expectations that we have? To stop feeling overwhelmed, depressed, stressed, anxious, stagnated etc..,to stop being unhappy.
Well, this is attainable. We can stop being unhappy.
However, what about being happy?
What is happy after all?
Therapy can be an invitation to define your “happy” through getting to know you. The most important relationship in your life is the relationship with yourself. A relationship which requires self-awareness and acceptance.
For me "happiness" includes a process. A process of exploring, accepting, liking yourself along with the very unlikable things, then exploring your purpose and the world that you live in, reframing and redefining your purpose and walking your path.
I view "mental disorders" as dead ends, or disruptions of your path. In other words opportunities for growth. People are not disorders and a set of symptoms. People are people with unique talents.
I’m a licensed clinical psychotherapist, specialized in trauma and attachment. I work as a psychotherapist for fifteen years.
I run remotely my private practice in New York since I moved in the UK two years ago.
I have worked with adolescents, young adults, adults and elder adults suffering from Mood, Bipolar, Anxiety, Trauma, Substance Use Disorders, Personality Disorders, Relationship Problems, Complicated Grief and I could tell that I have witnesses pain.. a lot of pain but at the same time great potential. That's why I love what I do.
How will work together?
My approach rests on positive and person-centered psychology, and you will guide me through the process, what I mean by that, is that you are unique with unique talents, strengths, ways of thinking, relating, processing, evolving, etc., thus, you will let me know about your uniqueness and guide me through your journey, and I will reflect on ways that you sabotage your potential to be happy. And if you are willing to work and challenge yourself I strongly believe that you will be able to define your happiness and finally be just happy.
