I am based in Hove on Wednesdays, Thursdays (day/evening) and weekend afternoons. I work from Southwick on Fridays (day/evening).
About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. I’m an experienced counsellor who is curious, warm, thoughtful and open to hear what’s going on for you. I believe that by offering you my full attention each time we meet and listening with great care to what you say (and sometimes don’t say) I can offer helpful feedback. As you become more relaxed and feel able to explore things at your own pace, together we can unravel tangled thoughts and feelings and help you to feel more comfortable in your own skin.
My belief is that most of us know deep down, most of the time, what we need and how to go about getting those needs met. The hard part comes when our needs are at odds with the needs, wants or expectations of others – and that can be family, friends, partners, work colleagues, neighbours or wider society. Dealing alone with the stress of making decisions and changes that will impact on you and others can lead to anxiety, anger, depression and even suicidal thoughts. You might want to explore your relationship with alcohol, drugs, over or under-eating, gambling or other behaviours that don’t really help in the long term.
Together we can share the job of clarifying what’s troubling you right now, how it’s affecting your ability to live your life and what options you have for moving forward.
I work with individuals aged 18 and over. I do not offer couples therapy.
I work in person from rooms at The Wilbury Clinic, 64 Wilbury Road, Hove BN3 3PY and from my home office in Southwick, West Sussex. Online sessions are also possible.
A session lasts 50 minutes, with regular, weekly sessions tending to be of most likely benefit. Prompt payment of session fees is requested.
My first session
I offer a first consultation session at the reduced rate of £20. This can be in person at my Hove or Southwick rooms or by Zoom if you prefer. If you would like an initial phone conversation before meeting me please email or leave me a voicemail on my mobile and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
This consultation is a chance for us to have an informal chat, for me to find out a bit about what's leading you to seek counselling at this time and for you to ask me any questions you might have. This is a good opportunity for you to get a feel for how it might be to work with me.
If, after meeting, you decide you would like to go ahead and have more sessions, we can firm up timings, fees and any other aspects of our contract together. You are free to end counselling at any time although it's always appreciated if we can plan for an ending together.
