I have availability weekday evenings from 5pm for online counselling.
I am not currently offering face to face counselling but if this is your preference please drop me an email for updates as to when that might be possible.
About me and my therapy practice
Is there something in life that you are struggling with? Are your usual coping strategies no longer working? Do you feel stuck in grief, or struggling to adjust following a loss? Are you facing or considering significant life changes? Do you want to talk to someone who can listen without judgement, help you to see things more clearly, make progress and develop confidence?
Hi, I’m Simon, I offer warm, supportive and confidential online counselling to individuals across the UK. As an integrative counsellor I blend different elements from counselling and psychotherapy theory in order to provide an approach that is tailored to each individual client. We are all unique and I believe that our therapy should be too.
I am passionate about helping my clients live more authentic lives by shaking off beliefs and old ways of operating which no longer benefit them. I have found that living more authentically reduces anxiety and depression, and gives a greater sense of control and contentment with life.
I have specific interest or experience in the following areas
Supporting clients through significant changes in life - whether it be changes in identity, relationships, employment/education, health or indeed anything that you’d like to work on, I will support you
Working with members of the LGBTQ+ community - from personal experience I understand that it can be difficult to open up and bring your full self to counselling when you don’t know the values and beliefs of your counsellor. I offer an affirmative and accepting space for LGBTQ+ clients to work through any issues, whether related to their LGBTQ+ identity or not
Relational trauma and family issues - families aren’t perfect; sometimes our early relationships with others can continue to impact our lives into adulthood. If our childhood did not feel safe, if we felt our needs were not met, or when we felt an unfair burden to care for others, we may experience distress or relational trauma. If you identify with these issues, safely exploring your experiences can be helpful in gaining clarity, helping you to identify and change repetitive patterns in your life and build self-compassion
Bereavement - I worked as a counsellor with the leading bereavement charity in the UK where I undertook regular training and supervision. This work, and the clients I had the honour to support, taught me that our response to bereavement and loss is as unique as we are. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed by emotions or want a safe space to talk, please get in touch
My first session
First sessions are different for everyone and I know from experience that it can be difficult to sit down in front of a stranger and speak about personal issues. My goal in our first and early sessions is to create a safe space for you to begin talking about what is troubling you.
At the end of the session I will usually summarise what I have understood. We might also discuss what your aims for the counselling might be. It could be very specific or quite vague at this stage, but don’t worry as we will regularly review our work together to ensure we are on the same page.
