About me and my therapy practice

I offer individual counselling to clients aged 18+, I also offer clinical supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors. I have over 15 years’ experience of working as a counsellor within the NHS.  I have also worked as a counsellor within voluntary and low cost community counselling organisations, as well as in private practice.

If you are curious about what counselling involves and whether it may be helpful for you, please contact me. I would like to offer you an initial 30 minute no obligation consultation at no cost. I believe that the relationship between a counsellor and client is the foundation of any therapy being beneficial. Having an initial conversation can help you to decide if I feel like the right counsellor for you, and for me to gauge if my skills and experience are likely to meet your needs.

Practice description

I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor which means that I draw from a number of psychotherapy disciplines to be able to best meet your needs. I will offer you a safe, confidential and non judgemental space to explore whatever feels important to you. I won’t tell you what to do as I trust that you are the expert on yourself, even if it might not feel that way for you at the moment. I will be an active and collaborative participant in the process of you gaining insight into, and making sense of your difficulties, and discovering your own ways to move forward.

People come to counselling for many different reasons.  You might want to talk about challenges you have faced in the past or difficulties in the here and now, or perhaps about loss or relationship problems. You might want to work out why you are experiencing certain feelings or why you are behaving or reacting in ways that don’t sit well with you.  Whatever the focus, the way that I work with you will be based on evidence based theory, knowledge and experience, and tailored to your individual needs.

My qualifications:

BSc in Reflective Therapeutic Practice, Higher National Diploma in Counselling, Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression Practitioner and Supervisor, Interpersonal Therapy Practitioner and Supervisor, Certificate in Working with Survivors of Abuse.

I understand that it can take a great deal of courage to send an email or to make an initial call to a counsellor, especially if this is your first step towards therapy. Please be assured that I will do all I can to put you at ease, answer any questions you have and to help you get the most from the counselling, should you decide to proceed.
