About me and my therapy practice
New shorter length check-in sessions - 30 minutes for £30
Money is a pressing issue for most right now. Similarly, time to reflect and process our feelings may also be pressured, what with new and ever changing demands being placed upon us. These check-ins are shorter than the full-length 50 minute sessions, which take these factors into consideration.
25% discount for NHS staff and local and national government workers
50 minute full session = £33
30 minute check-in session = £22
Sessions can be focused on dealing with anxiety, stress and the loneliness that social distancing and self-isolation can bring. We can explore coping strategies to deal with these issues and ways how you can look after both your physical and mental well-being.
I am experienced in both telephone and online therapy which are very effective alternatives to having counselling in person.
Telephone counselling is straightforward - I call you at our agreed time.
Online counselling is where I use a tool called Zoom. This is a free, secure video conferencing app that can be used on any device - Mac, PC, phone, or tablet. Each week, I send you an email inviting you to our scheduled appointment. The email contains a link which once clicked, will open up the Zoom video window. It really is as simple as that.
As with ordinary face-to-face counselling, confidentiality is essential. It's important that you find a space where you feel comfortable and that privacy can be maintained. If finding somewhere suitable at home is an issue, another option is having the session in your car.
Seeking out a counsellor can be daunting that's why I offer a free 30 minute introductory session. This initial meeting allows you to ask any questions you may have about counselling, to find out what the process involves and for me to explain how I work.
I place great importance on offering a safe, confidential space where you can be heard without prejudice. Together we can discover the choices you have and the ways in which you can make positive changes, in a supportive environment.
Through my experience with clients I have dealt with a variety of challenging issues such as abuse, addiction, anger, anxiety, helplessness, low self-worth, relationships, stress and weight management. For an informal chat to find out whether I am the right counsellor for you, call me on 07811 102815 or drop me a line at email@example.com to arrange your appointment.
My first sessionOur first session consists of an assessment where I ask you various questions such as:
- why therapy; why now?
- your aims and goals of therapy
- any medication you are taking
- your support networks
- your availability to commit to sessions both with time and cost
This normally takes the whole of the first session and as you talk I will be taking hand written notes.
If conducting the session in person, this is where you can hand back your signed counselling agreement and privacy statement given to you in our introductory meeting.
