About me and my therapy practice

Hi I'm Sara, I offer the space for you to be able to just show up as you are, with whatever you bring and however you feel. You will be met with warmth, kindness, acceptance and a non-judgmental ear to enable you to feel safe and secure enough to explore your inner world and outer experience.

We can work together to help you; explore you issues, gain a new perspective, develop skills to help you tolerate discomfort and process experience. In doing so more empowerment and resilience for your future, can be possible.

Practice description

As a fully qualified art teacher and Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist, two or more theories/techniques/models, can be combined to address emotional dysregulation, behavioural issues, self beliefs, physical symptoms and relationship difficulties.

As the underlying causes of these difficulties can often have their roots in early experience, if appropriate, this can be explored and supported through different treatment approaches. If appropriate, a trauma-informed approach may be required. Here, in working within a carefully paced and phased way, stability and safety is secured first before any deeper trauma processing work is addressed. Here, longer term treatment can be more benficial to get to the root of deeper issues.

As trauma can impact memory and scramble recollections, it is quite common to feel confused as to our responses and reactions to traumatic experience. We can ruminate over why we did not react differently in the moment. In working to understand our nervous system response to trauma, talking therapy can be supported through creative exploration and a body-focused approach.

Through the facilitation of an integrated approach here, I provide, through 'Safe Passage Psychotherapy', a treatment approach which works to enable uncomfortable and complex feelings to be identified, explored, processed and safely released.

My first session

I offer a free initial 20 min consultation in my treatment in room (Lancaster) or online. This will typically involve a conversation around your needs/goals and can give you the opportunity to see if I am the right fit for you. This is a no obligation session.

If you decide you want to go ahead then we can book a convenient time for your first session. The first will usually involve a short paper assessment and a brief contracting session to set out the course of treatment. This is a mutually negotiated process and will be discussed on the first day.

The duration for treatment can be explored/ discussed and if needs be, extended to suit your preference/needs.
