About me and my therapy practice
Contacting a counsellor for the first time can feel difficult, even scary! You may be asking yourself - What's this person like? Will I get on with them? Will they understand me? Will they judge me?
And so you should. It's really important to find the counsellor that's right for you.
Let me reassure you that firstly, I'm Human, just like you! I have feelings and fears, ups and downs, and will treat you as a unique person with your own experiences and feelings. I won't judge you, patronise you or tell you what to do. What I will do is listen to you and work with you to help you find your way forward.
Since we are all unique and have differing experiences, expectations and needs, I am flexible and will work in the way that best suits you. I always aim to provide a warm, welcoming and safe environment where you will be listened to in confidence and never judged.
My practice is based on a person-centred, integrative approach. I have experience of helping people with a wide range of issues including Anxiety, Stress, Abuse and Trauma, Depression, Relationship issues, Gambling and addiction, Loss, Bereavement, Health issues, and long-term and complex mental health problems such as personality disorder, PTSD etc.
I provide volunteer work as a counsellor at a charity, and also run a private practice based at my home in Wing, near Leighton Buzzard.
I offer face to face and online sessions.
My first session
I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation where you can tell me about why you're seeking counselling, find out about me and how I work, and ask any questions. This can be over the phone, online or in person. This won't be a therapeutic session, but an opportunity to explore working together with no obligations.
