About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Lindsay,
I'm a counsellor who works in a Person Centred way. This means that I believe that you are the expert on you, and that together we will work through whatever is troubling you. I will support you with honesty, compassion and respect to help you find answers within yourself that will enable you to move forwards to where you want to be.
I have spent my life time in the Performing Arts and in Education and these are two of the areas in which I specialise in my counselling. During a 20 year career, and through personal experience, I came to understand how connected our belief in ourselves and our happiness really are and this led me to train to become a counsellor to support others on their personal journeys.
I care about what you are going through and believe we are all unique and have value. If you feel that things can be better for you, I will support you to get there. I will walk alongside you, supporting you and offering guidance, as you find the self-knowledge and confidence to continue forwards with strength and resilience.
In our counselling sessions you will have 50 minutes to focus on you. This is often difficult to achieve in our day to day lives and so this time can offer you space to reflect on what it is that is bringing you to counselling and what it is you want to achieve.
I offer a down to earth way of working which is non-judgmental, safe and confidential. I have worked with a wide range of issues and whatever you bring to the sessions is valid and welcome. I am supportive of diversity and personal expression.
I am a School Counsellor at a secondary school, where I also run a LGBTQ drop in support service. I also work in a community based Counselling Service.
My first session
Our first session is about looking at what you feel is bringing you to counselling, how we could work together and what I can offer as a counsellor. It's the chance for us to start to get to know each other and for you to discuss what you would like from any future sessions. The session is non-pressured and welcoming as you start your progress towards your goals.
