About me and my therapy practice

I can offer therapy if you're seeking help with depression, anxiety (including social anxiety), family issues, higher education, workplace issues, stress and careers, aloneness and loneliness, low self-esteem, shame and acceptance, bereavement and loss, spiritual concerns, fear of death and the search for meaning.

I've been in practice since 2011. I received good quality training in an integrative school, and have a PhD modelling change in psychotherapy. But aside from the professional accreditations - I've learned the most from my practice experience over the twelve years.

Therapy is at its best when it becomes the time in your week when the feelings and ideas that you're turning over inside are brought into clear view and they crystallise - you come away from the session with something new. Some times the therapist can be an educator, offering useful language and tools for making sense of your experience; at other times a coach, helping you prepare for the big challenges you currently face.

Practice description

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), eligible for senior accreditation. I am a senior teacher and trainer at a UK higher education institution and contribute to national and international developments in practice and research around psychotherapy.

I work within a pluralistic framework, which means that I offer a therapeutic approach which is bespoke to you, and also one that we envisage together. Where it could be helpful I can offer existential, systemic, psychodynamic, or cognitive behavioural approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I will strive to be a person you can trust, and as such create a space where you can speak in complete confidence. There should also be a sense that the therapy has purpose – let’s work together and get to the heart of the matter.

You're welcome to contact me at any point with questions or queries. Sessions are ordinarily charged at £70 but first meeting is free of charge and we have the option of meeting either in person at the Pure Treatment Rooms, Wetherby, online over Zoom, or over the phone.

My first session

The cost of living crisis is hitting our mental health hard. As such I would be happy to consider with you more cost effective ways of doing therapy. You could consider taking therapy fortnightly or a different frequency that works for you to make access to an experienced and highly qualified therapist more affordable. In addition, I can offer the first consultation session free of charge - this could be either on the phone, over Zoom, or from my consulting room in Wetherby.
