About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my practice. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am an experienced integrative Counsellor Psychotherapist and accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
My sole goal as a therapist is to help you make the changes you desire. Through conversations and talking therapy I work with you and alongside you. I often think of my clients as fellow travellers moving in the process of therapy as we work together to find solutions, seek understanding, discover ways forward and find better ways of being. My ability to connect comes from a human-to-human connection and I have a passion for helping people heal and grow. No two people are the same and we all experience life events differently, hence I customise integrative therapeutic methods to meet your individual needs.
In therapy you will be provided with a safe place to vocalise, reflect on difficult feelings or experiences, or explore behaviour changes, perhaps identify new ways of viewing things, with the aim of supporting you to overcome life’s challenges and ultimately feel lighter.
Practice description
In therapy you will be provided with a safe place to vocalise, reflect on difficult feelings or experiences, or explore behaviour changes, perhaps identify new ways of viewing things, with the aim of supporting you to overcome life’s challenges and ultimately feel lighter.
As well as being a qualified counsellor, I am also fully qualified in the experience of many of the challenges and traumas that life can bring. I can attest to the anxieties that lead us to being stuck or lost in a bad place and, as a result I can offer you genuine empathy and understanding, knowing that things can change for the better, knowing that you are not alone in your struggles.
In times of difficulty, we can become disconnected from our ability to find solutions on our own, think clearly or cope and our self-esteem can be impaired. These are the times where you need the right support to be able to access your own inner wisdom and regain the confidence to move forward.
After sessions in the non-judgmental space of my counselling room you will feel validated, accepted, heard, understood, known. The experience of such compassion aims to help you to begin your journey towards releasing some of your heaviness, bringing that longed for sense of relief.
You may come to therapy for many reasons; anxiety, a sense of unease, depression, unresolved issues, guilt, loss, low self-esteem, a wish to better understand why you think, feel and behave as you do. Whatever you bring to the session, I take it very seriously, accepting you just as you are. I've helped people with all sorts of issues, and I look forward to helping you.
My first session
Embarking on counselling you may feel daunted, bewildered even.
I understand that opening up to a complete stranger can be daunting and anxiety provoking. However, you will find I offer acceptance of you with warmth and lightness to help put you at ease.
I have also sat in the client chair and remember only too well how overwhelming it can be. My lasting memories of the experience are of feeling safe and supported in a caring counselling relationship. Now, I find it immensely rewarding and a privilege to witness the unfolding of a client's trust in their own capacity to heal, survive and thrive. My aspiration is to help you overcome your difficulties and live your life so it can be all that you want to be.
If you are interested in making the investment in yourself to begin therapy you might be wondering what kind of commitment this would be for you. You may have a brief telephone call with me, or exchange of emails to discuss what to expect, clarify costs, payment details and arrangements. You will then receive some paperwork from me with further information you may need. The 50 minute sessions may be taken weekly or fortnightly or at agreed intervals that meet your needs.
To be heard can be so powerful and liberating. I look forward to hearing you.
