About me and my therapy practice
My name is Judy and I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. My work is compassion focused based on empathy, or the ability to imagine myself in your shoes; therapeutic warmth and acceptance; and openness and honesty in the therapeutic relationship.
I provide a supportive, confidential service, offering a safe, non-judgemental, accepting space. Working in a person-centred way, I draw on a number of approaches including Psychodynamic, Compassion Focused Therapy, Gestalt, Inner Child work and Mindfulness to support you to explore personal issues, past experiences and difficult relationships.
Keeping it together can be challenging at times. No one is immune to the difficulties life throws our way. When things get tough life can become overwhelming.
I take your issues very seriously. Together we can make sense of the difficulties you are experiencing. Often just saying “It” out loud and being heard can make a huge difference to how you feel.
Working collaboratively I can help you reach a deeper understanding and acceptance of who you are, reasons behind the way you feel, encourage self-awareness and self-realisations to enable more effective personal choices and discover a more enjoyable way of being.
My first session
Reaching out for help takes tremendous courage and a commitment to value and invest in yourself to work towards the changes you want to make in your life.
In our first session I will take some personal details from you such as address, GP and an emergency contact. We will go through a Counselling Contract which illustrates how we will work together as well as terms.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and tell me in your own words what it is that is troubling you. I welcome you to come just as you are and invite you to tell me as little or as much as you feel comfortable with.
We will make a decision if we can work together to help you reach better ways of being.
