About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome to my practice. I am an experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a fully insured, accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I work one-on-one with clients using a relationally-humanistic approach. I also work with Couples and Two's offering a credible, high-quality, personalised service.

I'm accepting, respectful, down to earth, caring and empathic. I offer a compassionate, humanistic approach within a safe space where you can explore, heal, grieve, gain control again, or figure out what’s next.

As a Person Centred therapist, I place great emphasis on the relationship between client and therapist. You will always be recognised as the sole focus and the most important element in the therapeutic process.  My work is underpinned by the foundation of trust, acceptance and safety with no judgement, helping to pave the way for an effective counselling relationship where you will feel able to look at your concerns with me.

My aspiration is to support you in feeling validated, accepted, heard, understood, seen and known. The experience of such compassion aims to help you towards releasing some of your heaviness, bringing that longed for sense of relief and lightness.

Practice description

In times of difficulty, we can become disconnected from our ability to find solutions on our own, think clearly or cope and our self-esteem can be impaired.

In sessions you can expect to be provided with a safe place to vocalise, reflect on difficult feelings or experiences, explore behaviour changes, perhaps identify new ways of viewing things, with the aim of supporting you to overcome life’s challenges and ultimately bring clarity. You will never be asked to talk about anything that feels too uncomfortable for you.

As well as being a qualified counsellor, I am also fully qualified in the experience of many of the challenges and traumas that life can bring. I can attest to the anxieties that lead us to being stuck or lost in a difficult place. As a result, I can offer you genuine empathy and understanding, knowing that, with the right support, things can change for the better.

My aim is to help you feel validated, accepted, heard, understood, known. The experience of such compassion aims to help you to make sense of what is going on for you and bring that longed for sense of relief.

Many reasons may have brought you to reach out; anxiety, a sense of unease, depression, unresolved issues, guilt, loss, low self-esteem, a wish to better understand why you think, feel and behave as you do. Whatever you bring to the session, I take it very seriously, accepting you just as you are.

I've helped people with all sorts of issues, and I look forward to helping you.

My first session

In the first session we'll get to know each other and go through some basic paperwork around contact information and privacy. I'll explain in more detail how I work as you settle in and I'll ask what has brought you to counselling. You only need to tell me whatever you feel comfortable telling me and we'll look at what you might like to get out of our counselling sessions.

I understand that opening up to a complete stranger can be daunting. However, you will find I offer warmth and lightness to help put you at ease, because I understand entering therapy can be anxiety provoking.

In training, I have also sat in the client chair and remember only too well how overwhelming it can be. My lasting memories of the experience are of feeling safe and supported in a caring counselling relationship. Now, I find it immensely rewarding and a privilege to witness the unfolding of a client's trust in their own capacity to heal, survive and thrive. My aspiration is to help you overcome your difficulties and live your life so it can be all that you want to be.

I offer a no fee 15 minute telephone consultation if you feel the need to "meet" me first over the phone. This can give the opportunity to ask questions and for us to see if I could be of help to you. If you decide to go ahead and book, you will then receive some paperwork with further information.

The 50 minute sessions may be taken weekly or fortnightly, or at agreed intervals that meet your budget and needs.

To be heard can be so powerful and liberating. I look forward to hearing from you.
