I offer in person counselling Tuesday to Thursday - office hours are typically between 9am and 6.00pm.
I also offer online and telephone counselling during these times.
I aim to reply to messages within 24 hours.
About me and my therapy practice
To ensure I provide the very best experience, I like to maintain a limited number of active clients. Keeping the client base to a limited number allows me to offer a deepened focus on the individual seeking support.
Whether you are navigating life's challenges, seeking personal growth, or coping with difficult emotions, my aim is to help you discover your inner strength and resilience. You are not alone. My goal is to listen and work with you through any issues you are facing. Through deepening your understanding of how you relate to yourself, and the world around you, and help you to live your life with a renewed sense of wellbeing.
For me it’s about working together with trust. Creating a trusting safe, confidential, counsellor/client relationship. At the heart of counselling is how we work together and the most important part of the therapy success is trusting you are safe to share how you feel. I value my relationships with each client, and everyone is different. Each client is as an individual and I will explore what works for them. I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental, and emotionally safe space to explore whatever challenges you may be facing.
It’s good to be heard, it’s a noisy world today and we can be too busy to stop and reflect on what troubles us. Counselling gives you the opportunity to hear yourself and be supported every step of the way.
I am dedicated to our work together and through commitment and collaboration I will support you to find sense in your emotional patterns, the repeating behaviours which are no longer working for you. Letting go of some of the emotional defences and gaining a deeper understanding and awareness of self. By exploring the past and present you will begin to make different life choices and find new ways of coping and responding to your current difficulties. Therapy provides an opportunity for you to reflect upon what is troubling you, away from the distractions of everyday life.
The practice offers private secure off road access and a warm, welcoming, comfortable counselling room. We are a short walking distance from Great Dunmow High Street, there is a convenient bus route which stops in the high road and parking is available only a two-minute walk away.
The practice benefits are access to refreshments and rest room facilities.
My first session
Prior to a first session I like to offer my clients a free introductory call. We can arrange a date and time which works for us both. During the call you will have the opportunity to share how you are feeling. I will ask you a few questions and talk about how we will work together. The counselling relationship is an important part of therapy, and the call can help you understand if I am the right counsellor for you.
At the end of the call, if you are comfortable to continue, we will agree on a first session time and date. The sessions are normally 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week. To help prepare for our work together I will email a ‘client information form’ this is designed to gather some general details and saves time for you before the session.
The initial 'get to know you' session can take up to an hour, it gives you the opportunity to share with me what is bringing you to counselling and what you are looking to gain from it. I will also take time to ask you some questions about yourself, both to help me see what you need and so that I have some helpful background information. We will also have the chance to look at how we might work together and how you would like to take things forward.
