About me and my therapy practice
Shyness and social anxiety.......words which trip off the tongue with ease but living with either can be anything but easy.
- Heart pounding, sweating, dry mouth, mind racing, stomach churning, limbs trembling and to top it off…. blushing, which only invites more unwanted attention your way.
- Your mind never switches off, constantly over analysing every interaction - past and future – worrying about what you did say, what you didn’t say, what you’re going to say.
- Your inner critic shouts ‘you should be more confident’ and you yearn to be but you just can’t. It’s as though you’re trapped in an invisible cage and no matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to break free.
- You dread social situations; parties, after work drinks, family events - basically any gathering that involves social conversation sees you running for the hills. You want to join in but always find yourself on the periphery, rarely contributing, and when you do, you feel extremely self-conscious and worry about how others will perceive you.
- You have a love-hate relationship with being in the spotlight, avoiding situations where you’re feel exposed or in the limelight in any way but at the same time longing to be noticed, feel seen, appreciated and included.
- You find it hard to meet new people, never quite knowing what to say therefore missing out on opportunities to make new friends, find a romantic partner, and expand your horizons.
- You know that to achieve the success you want, you have to get better at putting yourself forward but you feel embarrassed and awkward. Talking about yourself and your achievements feels excruciating.
Any of the above sound familiar, you’ve come to the right place!
I’m here to help you embrace who you really are and move past your fears and insecurities to realise a richer, more fulfilling life filled with opportunities you would once shy away from.

My first hand experience means I know what does and doesn’t work so you can be confident you too can get long lasting results and free yourself from the shackles of shyness.

About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in helping adults heal, recover and reclaim life after trauma; releasing them from feeling hostage to what happened so they can feel robust and empowered.
Whatever your experience and whether your trauma is reported or not, recent or historical, you've come to the right place!
- Have you been affected by domestic abuse, childhood abuse, bullying etc?
- Have you witnessed something distressing or are you the direct victim?
- Is your trauma the result of a single event or ongoing circumstances?
- Maybe you have been traumatised by something others deem insignificant but the impact on you is anything but
Flashbacks, nightmares, fear, isolation, depression, anxiety, anger, worthlessness, powerlessness etc are commonplace as are physical symptoms such as racing heart, trembling limbs, poor concentration, churning stomach. Not to mention hypervigilance, avoiding places/people and safety seeking rituals such as continually checking locks to ease our anxiety. Exhausting!
Imagine now a world in which you feel in control of your trauma responses rather than fearing them, a world in which you have learned to respond rather than react from a place of fear. Well, the good news is that world is within your reach. With my specific training and expertise you can rest assured you are working with someone who has an in depth understanding of the issues and complexities that trauma brings.
I am proud to say I have successfully worked clients, just like you; educating, supporting, and empowering them as they heal and move towards a robust recovery. I’m here to help you reclaim your life after trauma now so , drop me a line and take the first step of your recovery today.

Why Choose Me?
- With my specific training and experience you can rest assured you are working with a Counsellor who has an in depth understanding of the specific issues and complexities that trauma brings.
- I am accustomed to hearing and working with extremely distressing situations. You can feel confident I can 'hold’ whatever you say without having to worry that it’s too awful or that you have to be protective of me leaving you free to talk about whatever you need to.
- Working online as well as ‘in person’ makes it easy for you to attend sessions without worrying about time or the added expense of travelling. This means you can continue with your daily life with the minimum of disruption to family life and working life.
- Having trained specifically to work online, you can be confident you are engaging with someone who understands the additional considerations that need to be considered when working virtually (considerations often not realised by those who have simply ‘switched to Zoom’) giving you the assurance your Counsellor is aware of potential pitfalls and is always working to safe and ethical online standards.
- Working with me means you won’t have to wait months for an NHS or a charitable counsellor to become available so you can start to feel better quicker.
- Being an independent practitioner gives you the assurance that any time you make contact it is with myself only thereby allaying any anxiety about speaking with strangers.

About me and my therapy practice
My supervision Diploma has prepared me to work with both individuals and groups, working across varying modalities and incorporating creative work. My aim is to facilitate a supportive and collegiate supervision forum where we can learn from each other.
For me, the supervisory relationship is a collaborative one in which we openly explore your work in a way that helps support your personal and professional development as well as ensuring professional and ethical integrity. I consider the overall aim of my role as supervisor as supporting you to be of most benefit to your clients within the contexts being worked with, best you can, following your preferred theoretical orientation.
To guide us in this process, my work is primarily informed by The Seven-Eyed Supervision model developed by Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet in 1985. As suggested by the name, this model considers seven distinct aspects of the therapeutic process, focussing on the relationships between client, therapist and supervisor and on the interplay between each. By looking through each ‘eye’ we can see a different side of the whole of your supervision session. I also hold in mind Stoltenberg and Delworth’s (1987) Developmental Model’ to assist in assessing where the supervisee sits developmentally and then to provide support and feedback appropriate to that stage whilst aiding progression to the next stage. By combining these two models I feel that I am able to really focus on your needs and development from a variety of angles.
As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and the guidance in the BACP Supervision Competence Framework but am happy to work with those registered with alternative membership bodies.
