About me and my therapy practice

I am a warm & friendly Counsellor & Psychotherapist and registered member of the BACP. I have experience in working with both young people and adults, including University & FE students.

I work with a wide variety of issues, including Anxiety and Depression. I am passionate about supporting people with issues around Food & Body Image, Bereavement, Loss and Trauma. I have experience in working alongside people from a variety of different racial, cultural and financial backgrounds in the voluntary and public sector.

As an Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist, my approach is tailored to suit each person’s needs. The pace of our sessions is led by you and I will professionally support you at every stage as you begin to explore your feelings and emotions in more depth. I am warm and empathic and offer a safe, non-judgemental & confidential environment.

I understand that reaching out for help & support can feel scary, especially during a time of emotional need. I would encourage you to call or email me if you have any questions about counselling and the way in which I can support you. We can then make an initial appointment, after which we can then decide together whether I am the right therapist for you. Both short term and long term work can be offered.

I am fully insured and have regular supervision to support my work.

My first session

During our first session, we will go through the Counselling contract, which I will email to you in advance. Once we have discussed the contract, the rest of the session will be used to talk about what's brought you to counselling and how you would like to use our time together.

I find it helpful to use an assessment form during this initial meeting. This form will be completed by me and it contains questions about your support network, your life experiences and some questions about how your daily life is being impacted by the issue/issues that you are facing. This form isn't anything to be worried about. It is simply a tool that helps me to gain a bigger picture of your life & the issues that you're facing. I find that it also helps my clients to open up and talk about the things that are important to them and the areas of their life that they would like work on.

Alongside the assessment form, I will ask you to complete a form which helps us both to look at how you've been feeling over the last 7 days. I will ask you to complete one of these forms at regular intervals during our time together as it will help us to see how our sessions are going and the progress that is being made.

At the end of our initial meeting, I will ask if you have any questions you would like to ask me and then together, we can decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.
