About me and my therapy practice
I can offer adults, teenagers and children of all genders and cultural backgrounds counselling with a Humanistic Person-centred approach. I also incorporate strategies and psychotherapeutic techniques individually personalised for you. I aim to help you to manage anxieties, depression, low self-esteem, low self-worth and other mental health conditions that can impact negatively on daily life.
I am an independent Person-Centred Counsellor and psychologist working from my home based garden therapy room located in the Walsworth area of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. I am fully insured, DBS checked and affiliated to the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists). This is a professional body which regulates and sets out legal and ethical frameworks within which I work.
I opened my private practice in 2019, offering counselling/psychotherapy to adults and children experiencing a range of mental health issues. Prior to this I completed a BSc Honours degree in Psychology before going on to gain a Level 4 diploma in Person-Centred Therapeutic Counselling. I attend ongoing training and supervision.
Alongside my private practice, where I work with adults and children, from around 2016 I have worked as a student counsellor with the Bedford College Group; with students in Special Educational Needs Schools, Colleges, Secondary Education and Primary education.
I have full enhanced DBS clearance for working with children and vulnerable persons.
My therapeutic style is warm, approachable, friendly, supportive and compassionate. Psychotherapy is tailored to the specific needs of each individual client as they form in a collaborative relationship
What I will offer you is a confidential place to talk through worries and concerns in a non-judgemental environment to help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and experiences.
There is ample free parking available within a few minutes walk of my therapy room, if you are driving, or good public transport links; including local buses. Hitchin Railway Station is less than a mile away. My practice is ideally situated for clients living in Hitchin, Arlesey, Baldock, Clifton, Henlow, Langford, Letchworth, Shefford, Stevenage and surrounding areas.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what you feel you would want from the counselling sessions and also how we could work together to achieve your desired outcomes.
The initial consultation could be face to face, a telephone call or via a Zoom video call.
Use either the 'send message' button on this directory listing or visit my website (glenncoopercounselling.co.uk) using the link at the top of this page to contact me.
As I run my practice independently may I suggest that initial contact be via email as I may be unable to answer a telephone enquiry due to being with a client. I will endeavour to contact you back within 24 hours.
