About me and my therapy practice

For me, the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the key to success. I will work with you to explore the way you think, feel, sense and perceive the world. We will sit together, as equals. I will offer empathy, support and, if it will be helpful, challenge.

Most of all, I will listen to you.

Your situation is unique. I aim to get to grips with the complexities it presents, taking into account what is going on with you internally as well as the effect of outside influences.  We will explore who you are and, if and when you are ready, what influences have led you to be that person.

I'm an integrative relational counsellor. That means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, but most importantly I work to develop an empathic, trusting relationship that helps you to a deeper understanding of what makes you tick.

I work with people of all ages to help them overcome feelings such as anxiety, depression and that nagging sense of pointlessness.

I have many years' experience of working with teenagers and young adults.

I have both professional and lived experience of coming to terms with the challenges presented by invisible disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD. I know that the effects of these conditions are profound and impact on the quality of life for people of all ages.

Practice description

I work with both adults & adolescents.

Adults aged 18+

You may be feeling overwhelmed, isolated, fearful, anxious, depressed or confused. I offer a safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgmental space in which to work with your distressing thoughts, emotions and behaviours. You do not need to do this alone. I will work with you to find a way forward.

Adolescents aged 11-18

The modern world places so much pressure on young people. The expectation of academic success, getting a job and developing a career in an increasingly uncertain economic landscape. All of this whilst navigating a world dominated by social media: A world which places so much emphasis on appearance and image, which presents individuals with the best air-brushed versions not only of celebrities, but of their peers.

Sometimes it's hard to talk about these things with those who we need to hear us most. That's where a counsellor can help.

I have 30 years of experience of working successfully with young adults and teenagersI build relationships based on mutual respect and understanding.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute telephone conversation to help you establish whether the service I offer is right for you. All emails, calls and sessions remain strictly confidential.

If you're calling on behalf of a young person who is over the age of 16, I'll also ask to have a brief chat with them in order to gain their consent to attend therapy.
