About me and my therapy practice

Hi there, I'm Jonathan. I work with a range of clients who want to understand and reduce feelings of anxiety, panic, and depression, or who may be struggling with aspects of their lives, past or present. This can include feeling overwhelmed, self-esteem issues, relationship problems, trauma, loss and grief, heath concerns, existential worries, and problems with thoughts and behaviour.

I have an 'integrative relational' approach - this is pretty mainstream and one of the most effective modern therapeutic approaches. In short it means I listen very carefully to what you're saying and combine a blend of therapy styles to work with you in a way that works for you. The relational aspect means that together we can - if you like - look at what happens in the counselling as a reflection of what might happen with other relationships in your life.

I am a BACP-registered counsellor-therapist and trained at an NHS institute accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

In light of the ongoing Covid-19 disruption I'm providing video sessions in place of face-to-face meetings. There is encouraging data emerging supporting the effectiveness of video therapy and I would encourage you to consider it, since it can begin immediately and is less likely to be interrupted by lockdown, travel restrictions, or self-isolation. Outdoor face to face sessions are possible, but limited in availability (and sometimes a bit cold!) - if video calls are not ideal please let me know.

Therapy and counselling is a wonderful opportunity to improve the quality of your life and how you feel. Change really is possible and I look forward to working with you.
