About me and my therapy practice
I offer short and long-term counselling & psychotherapy with a therapeutic approach recognised as Transpersonal Psychotherapy. Transpersonal psychotherapy differs from clinical mind-centred therapies and is a powerful therapeutic approach that works with what we all possess; a mind, a body and a soul (or spirit), i.e. our “Psychology”.
Transpersonal Psychotherapy is a humanistic ‘you-centred’ approach and values equally all aspects of our 'being'. Unlike most forms of psychotherapy that concentrate on improving mental health alone; transpersonal psychotherapy takes an equally thorough, yet more holistic approach in that it considers a much wider scope of mental, physical, spiritual, social, emotional, creative and intellectual needs; in equal merit, in order to support a client to reach a place of wholeness, balance, self-empowerment and individuation. Client work is an exploration of the ego-mind-body-soul dynamics and their influence on mental, emotional, physical and relational health and functioning.
All aspects of ‘self’ need to be recognised explored and worked with if we are to heal deep issues and embrace who we are. Such an approach may also consider existential implications such as the meaning and purpose of one’s existence, how societal conditions and pressures such as eco-anxiety, climate distress and expectations surrounding gender imposed stereotyping of roles, duties and obligations may affect one’s overall wellbeing.
Working collaboratively, we talk about what’s happening in your life and any changes you might want to make in order to heal and expand the quality of your consciousness and 'being'; what might need to happen for you to feel more empowered to do this and ways to support and promote your ongoing emotional and holistic health and well-being.
