About me and my therapy practice
With extensive supervisory experience working across a wide range of clinical contexts, I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists who work with adult clients. This includes supervision for trainees, newly qualified, established and very experienced practitioners. I also provide supervision and consultative support to those who supervise or manage the work of other helping professionals.
Within the safety of a collaborative supervisory relationship, my aim is to offer a balance of support, encouragement and appropriately placed challenge. This helps my supervisees further develop their professional knowledge and practical skills as well as maintain and build upon their ethical mindedness and decision-making skills such as those involved in resolving therapeutic and practice dilemmas.
I use the supervision model developed by Inskipp and Proctor which encompasses the three supervisory tasks:
• Normative - ethical and best practice issues
• Formative - skills development and theoretical learning
• Restorative - practitioner wellbeing and self-care
I hold BACP senior accreditations in both counselling and supervision and have a Diploma in Supervision from Cascade. I work in private practice in Woking and provide counselling to those who self-refer or are referred to me via their healthcare provider. I also work with Employee Assistance Programmes.
I am the author of various BACP Good Practice in Action resources which are intended to support practitioners by providing information on good practice, principles and policy within the context of the Ethical Framework. These cover topics such as supervision, the supervisory relationship, confidentiality, record-keeping, practitioner self-care, fitness to practise and retirement from the counselling professions (see www.bacp.co.uk).
If you are interested in finding out more about supervision with me, please email or call me.
