About me and my therapy practice

How Can I help?

I have been a counsellor for many years. My clients tell me that I am compassionate, approachable and easy to talk to, and although much of our conversation is serious, you can smile and even laugh – all emotions are ok in a counselling session! Our session will feel much like a conversation, with the focus on you and whatever you want to bring to the session.

I have experience of working with clients from all walks of life and with all sorts of issues. People often ask me: ‘How do I know if I need Counselling?’ My answer to that is that everyone can benefit from counselling. It is not only for those who are mentally unwell or struggling, it can be a positive experience for anyone and everyone.

I specialise in counselling/coaching adults on the autistic spectrum - and those who wonder if they might be on the spectrum. We can work together to find ways of managing thoughts and emotions and develop strategies to manage situations that are difficult.

I also counsel in the workplace, helping employees manage work-related issues such as stress, anxiety, bullying, or perhaps to achieve a more satisfactory work/life balance.

I am an experienced relationship counsellor. I work with couples around specific issues they may have, or more generally, to see if the relationship can be improved, or whether it is better to end the relationship.

I am skilled in working with parents. It can be difficult to navigate the demands of family alongside work, particularly if a child has behavioural issues, which can place considerable strain on the family. It can be helpful to work on strategies, for parents to receive help to work together to resolve issues.

Do get in touch even if I haven't mentioned mentioned your specific need here. I have been a counsellor for nearly 15 years and I am experienced in helping with most presenting issues, situations and difficulties.

Let me know if you'd like a preliminary chat, or whether you'd like to book in a session. 07434 934502.

Practice description

I work from a private, warm and quiet office - a separate building in the garden of my home. It is ideal for face to face appointments. It is accessible from the front driveway (which is available for you to park) on the level, although there is a slight lip to navigate across the threshold, which might make it unsuitable for wheelchairs. There is a toilet.

I offer video for calls for those who are not able to meet face to face.

Telephone counselling is also an option.

My first session

During our first session I will begin by taking some basic personal information from you. This will be very brief because I like to leave as much time as possible to focus on what brings you to counselling.

I tend to ask more questions in the first sessions, than in follow-ups, because I want to make sure I understand clearly what is going on for you.

Feel free to bring a hot drink with you. I always provide water and tissues.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified supervisor (to level 6). I am happy to work with trainees or more experienced counsellors. I am person-centred by primary training, but use the seven-eyed model of supervision , which adapts well to therapists of other modalities. I am also trained in coaching and hypnotherapy and able to offer supervision in those areas as well.

I can offer daytime appointments.

Practice description

I am an experienced Counsellor. I have been in Practice for nearly 15 years and a Supervisor for 3 years.

I provide my supervisees with a relaxed and supportive atmosphere in which to discuss client work and what is going on for them.

I believe that we need to look after our own well-being as counsellors and supervision plays a fundamental role in ensuring that we are able to be the best version of ourselves for our clients.

Alongside our self-care, I believe that supervision should be a safe place to explore, and gain further insight into our work with clients.

I am available for daytime appointments, either an hour (£45) or an hour and a half (£65). Discount offered for students.

I prefer sessions face to face, but I am also available for video call, or phone calls. Do get in touch if you'd like to book a session or have a chat. 07434 934502.
