Anna Carver

I have experience  in IAPT GP surgeries, private practice , Voluntary sector, NHS  & NHS staff counselling, practicing as an integrative humanistic counsellor for twenty seven years and as an EMDR therapist for fourteen years. I have recently completed Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems.

Whilst trained in EMDR and IFS, about which you can learn more on my website, my primary therapy lens is Person Centred.  I believe we all come into the world with our own inherent wisdom and that we all have life experiences that can form like veils between our awareness and this wisdom.  I also believe that as we explore ourselves in the company of another who is respectful, prizing of us and this wisdom that we each have, who can understand our experience and is genuine in themselves, we can get more in contact with that wisdom which in turn leads us to feel more at ease and creative in life. As a therapist I hope to be that other person.

My first session is a session for us to both find out if we will work together.  I will want to know what is bringing you to therapy now, more about your context past and present, what you want from therapy and how I might be able to work with you.  I hope you will feel free to ask me anything you need to know to decide whether you want to work with me and that we can together use the session to form an agreement that will hold our work together. I charge the same fee for a first session as subsequent sessions.
