About me and my therapy practice
The majority of people worry about weight or shape and try to diet at some stage in their lives. However, for some, weight is continually lost and gained and dieting becomes a cycle (commonly referred to as yo-yo dieting).
Even if symptoms are not recognised as a formal eating disorder, persistent thoughts about size and appearance can cause misery, and prevent you from living a full life. Working with the psychology of chronic dieting behaviour and body dissatisfaction, my approach helps you to understand your history in order to build a future free from limiting beliefs about food and weight.
Offering one-to-one therapy for people seeking the resolution of specific problems and traumas affecting their eating behaviour, I work in an integrative way, combining elements from psychoanalytic, humanistic, and cognitive practices to best suit your needs. I also work with people who are distressed by their body image and have poor self-esteem.
My first session
Our first session will be an initial assessment, lasting 75 minutes. Together we will discuss what has brought you to therapy, uncover your goals for our work together and assess your readiness for change.
