About me and my therapy practice

My counselling practice is based in a peaceful, village setting close to Market Harborough, easily accessible from South Leicestershire and North Northamptonshire. I offer a free initial consultation. Off-road parking is available.

I offer appointments at my office in Foxton and also 'Walk and Talk' therapy in the surrounding countryside. I also offer online and phone sessions.

I seek to provide you with an environment of acceptance and respect, somewhere you can feel safe to explore your feelings - to just say anything and be yourself. Throughout your journey of self-discovery, I will be alongside you, supporting you in a professional and non-judgemental way. By exploring your thoughts and feelings in depth, and with my theoretical input when needed, you will hopefully develop a greater sense of self-awareness, build resilience and make better choices.

My counselling approach is Humanistic and relational, which simply means that I believe in the potential of all people. If you give us the right conditions, we can and will flourish. It is my job as counsellor to provide the 'right conditions' and for me this is all about our relationship, because it is very difficult to explore difficult feelings with someone we do not feel comfortable with. This is why I offer a free initial consultation.

I enjoy working with a wide-range of mental health issues, but my areas of special interest are; Adverse Childhood Experiences, Anxiety, Depression and Low Self-Esteem.

Practice description

Why choose counselling? And why me? It can be hard to express difficult feelings with family and friends, as we may feel we are 'burdening' them or we might fear being judged and this can be risky.

Counselling allows us to speak to someone who, is not only trained to work with us, but is completely unrelated to our lives. There is no risk or 'burden' - just 50 minutes of time for you. This can take place in person, at my office or during an outside walk, online or over the phone.

My first session

I offer a free initial consultation, which allows you to get a feel for how I work, before you commit to ongoing sessions.  We talk about the main issues you hope to address, what you'd like to gain from counselling and any relevant background information.

It also gives you a chance to find out more about me and ask any questions you may have about my training, experience and style of working.
