About me and my therapy practice
My name is Lindy Carter. I am a parent of 2 grown up daughters and am now a proud grandma! I taught for 10 years and then retained as a school counsellor in the USA. I have a Master's Degree in Counselling, and am a registered member of BACP. I have worked in schools in the USA and the UK as a counsellor and mentor, with ages ranging from 6-21 since 2016. I specialize in young people and understand the stresses and pressures they feel. I have worked for a UK national counselling charity and an online counselling service aimed at young people. In my private practice I work with children exclusively and have a lot of hands on experience with the challenges young people experience at home, at school and socially.
I am currently working remotely due to Covid but hope to be back to face to face work shortly when safe.
I have worked with a variety of issues including low self esteem/confidence, anxiety, depression, self harm, panic, school stress, family issues, social relationships, anger, gender ID, social anxiety, post pandemic related issues etc. It is intended to provide early intervention in the form of talking therapy (I use CBT and solution focused brief therapy SFBT). Sessions are typically 50 minutes per week for 8-10 weeks.
Sometimes talking therapy can be a bridge for more complex cases that may need onward referrals.
