About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel 'stuck' in a place you can't seem to get out of? As we go through life, we can face challenges that can significantly impact how we feel. Sometimes, it can be helpful to have another human beside you, to help support and guide you through these difficult times.
I specialise in helping people with Anxiety, Phobias, and Anger Management Issues, and I am experienced in working with adults who have diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD.
It might be that you just don't feel your usual self, or it could be that you have known for many years that life is more difficult than it should be for you.
Whatever you are experiencing, you have taken the first big step towards positive change by seeking out therapy.
Practice description
I am a Pluralistic Counsellor, RTT Hypnotherapist and Life Purpose Coach. I hold a BSc (Hons) Psychology, and a MSc Counselling.
As we are all different, I believe therapy should look different for everyone. As a Pluralistic Counsellor, I draw tools and techniques from many different modalities of counselling. My sessions are tailored to suit the individual needs and preferences of each client.
I feel that working with more than one modality of counselling can provide a more personalised approach to therapy. Also, utilising more than one type of therapy can often speed up the process meaning you will experience change quicker, and require fewer sessions.
I work using modalities such as Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, DBT, Inner Child Therapy and Hypnosis. We can talk through the different therapies during our sessions, and I will always check in with you to ensure the work we are doing together is effective.
As a person, I am empathetic and non-judgemental. My priority is to create a good therapeutic relationship as this will be the foundation of how we work together.
A therapeutic relationship is created through shared feelings of trust, respect, genuine care and honesty. However, I do feel it is also helpful in therapy to be challenging (when appropriate) as it can allow you to explore a situation from a different perspective.
I am experienced in working with clients who have ADHD and have problems with Executive Functioning skills. Executive functioning is an area of the brain that helps us with things such as planning and organising, managing time, remembering details and keeping focus whilst on tasks.
We can't 'fix' this area of the brain - I would add that it also doesn't need to be fixed! However, there are many techniques and strategies that can be put in place to make everyday life easier.
My first session
Prior to booking a session, I would ask you to book a free 20-minute discovery call so we can meet each other on Zoom, and it will provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions about the therapy I offer.
If you check out my website, you can read more about how I work, check my testimonials, and I have added some self-help blogs.
