About me and my therapy practice
Warm, creative, accepting, therapy for young people, adults and families.
I work with a range of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, work related stress and bereavement in ways that research has shown are effective. We will collaborate to choose a pathway which suits you and supports you on your journey. Most clients make significant progress in between 6 and 12 sessions.
I offer face to face therapy from my relaxing office in Edgerton, Huddersfield. My office is large enough to allow social distancing and is cleaned regularly.
For those that prefer I am working both online (WhatsApp video and Zoom) and on the telephone in order to maintain social distancing. I have worked online for some time and find it really effective. New clients have expressed how quickly they relax and feel comfortable.
I’m always happy to discuss individual circumstances and needs.
The Therapy Huddersfield room is easy to reach from the town centre or M62 and has off street parking. If you would prefer, I offer home visits across West Yorkshire.
I specialise in working compassionately with adults who have experienced Trauma and Adversity in Childhood. Modern therapies such as Internal Family Systems support clients to come to a gentle acceptance of their past and help them grow and develop in the present.
I have extensive experience of working with young people and offer a warm, supportive atmosphere building trusting relationships. I understand that growing up is hard and that manging the emotions that accompany difficult life events is not easy. I provide a safe space for young people to explore their emotions and work through their problems.
As a therapist my aim is to provide therapy that supports you. I have extensive training and can explain to you how different approaches may benefit your particular situation.
I initially trained in Person Centred Therapy. I have had further training in CBT, Transactional Analysis and Trauma Informed Practice. I specialise in applying recent breakthroughs in the understanding of Complex Trauma, C-PTSD and Anxiety to support clients who may have been struggling for many years.
Many clients suffer from the crippling effects of Anxiety. I use research based techniques (Polyvagal Theory, Compassion Focussed Therapy) to support them to understand how and why anxiety affects them. Clients often surprise themselves as they make very real progress in reducing their fears and worries.
I hold a Psychology BSc (Hons), a Certificate in Counselling (Level 6) and a Post Graduate Diploma (PgDIP.) in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7). I am currently undertaking research at The University of Salford as I complete my MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the BACP and I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
