About me and my therapy practice
If you're feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, you're not alone—and therapy can help. I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy for adults in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space. With seven years of experience, I bring a calm, thoughtful presence to the work, supporting you as you move toward greater clarity, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
I work relationally, meaning the quality of our connection is central to the process. Therapy isn’t just about talking—it's about creating a space where you feel safe enough to be real, curious, and open to change. I listen deeply and respond actively, offering insight and gentle challenge to help you understand and shift patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together, we’ll explore how your past experiences shape your present, and how change becomes possible through self-compassion and greater self-trust.
My approach is integrative and tailored to each client. While my core training is in Integrative Therapy, I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS), which supports compassionate exploration of the different parts of yourself. I may also incorporate Brainspotting, a focused approach for processing trauma and emotional pain. These modalities allow for deep work while respecting your pace, boundaries, and goals.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, or low self-esteem, therapy offers a space to make sense of what’s happening and begin moving toward a life that feels more grounded and authentic. I bring experience, care, and a steady presence to our work together.
Practice description
I have worked with individual adults across a wide range of settings including the voluntary sector, employee assistance programmes and private practice. I offer both short- and long-term therapy, depending on your needs.
I welcome clients facing a variety of challenges, including (but not limited to) anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and self-worth struggles. My therapeutic approach is thoughtful and responsive, always grounded in the uniqueness of your situation.
Sessions are available in person from my private therapy room in central Barnstaple, or remotely via Zoom or phone. I offer a limited number of lower-fee spaces for people on reduced incomes. Please feel free to get in touch via email, text, or phone if you’d like to explore working together.
My core training/qualifications include:
CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (BACP accredited course)
CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
Additional qualifications include:
Brainspotting Phase 1 & 2 (Brainspotting UK)
IFS (Internal Family Systems) Level 1 training (IFS Institute)
Cruse Bereavement Care/Ascentis National Awarding Body: Awareness in Bereavement Care Foundation Course.
My first session
The initial assessment session is a gentle starting point for us to get to know each other and to explore whether working together feels right. It’s a space where you can get a feel for the safety and support the sessions offer and where we can begin to explore what has brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about how we might work together and what you hope to gain from the process. There is also space for any questions or concerns you may have. You will be invited to share, at your own pace, aspects of your current situation, background, and anything from your past that feels important.
