About me and my therapy practice
Feeling confused, anxious, sad or angry; having relationship or family issues, or finding it difficult to deal with grief, loss, change or the past are entirely normal, if challenging, parts of being human.
When things feel tangled and confused, talking things through with someone neutral, trained and entirely focused on you can help you find a way through tough times or issues that are causing you distress, leaving you better able to deal with the ups and downs of life in the future.
There are lots of different kinds of therapy and you may be clear on which type you think would help you best. Or you may simply be looking for someone to help and don’t really know where to start. I am trained in Person-Centred therapy (which you can find out more about here). But in essence, my job is to listen carefully and to respond honestly, and without judgement, whilst you talk. In doing so, I’ll help you to get out what’s going on inside, so we can explore it and understand it better.
And the better you understand yourself, the more you can untangle things, see patterns and move forward.
Practice description
I generally work with adults and help them with whatever is affecting how they’re feeling, but these are the types of issues that I often encounter and have experience of in my work.
Anxiety | Depression | Stress | Grief | Trauma | Relationships | Family Issues | Identity | Loss and Change | Life limiting diagnoses | Work-related issues | Lack of confidence and self-esteem
My first session
There’s lots of evidence to suggest that the relationship you have with your therapist is the most important factor in the success of therapy. Of course, like any relationship, it can take time to develop, but it’s important that you have some sense that you could be comfortable and open with a particular therapist before you commit to working with them.
Initially, I’d suggest a half-hour session free of charge online or over the ’phone for you to see if you feel you could work with me. During this session we'd talk about what brings you to therapy and how you hope it can help. It will also give you a chance to ask any questions before making your decision.
