About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my profile on the BACP website. I recognise that it can be difficult to take the first step towards seeking help. Sometimes we internalise messages from those around us that we should be able to cope by ourselves. I understand that things may be going on for you that might be impacting on you in an unhelpful way and you feel that you need support. I hope that you find the following information helpful in making a decision about whether you think I might be the right person to help you.
I work in a client-centred way, which is open-ended, tailored to the individual and promotes autonomy of the client. I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and nurturing space within which I accompany my clients on a journey of self-discovery. My hope is that you will feel comfortable enough to discuss whichever issues are causing you difficulty and which may be preventing you from living the life in the way that you wish. I will accompany you as you find the courage to take a closer look at these issues and support you as we face them together.
When I meet a client for the first time, I begin the process by carrying out an assessment. It is during this process that I can begin to understand the contributing factors which have brought you to the point of seeking help. I see the first session as an opportunity to establish with you if we will work well together. This underpins my belief that a good relationship between client and therapist is essential for you to achieve the optimum outcome from your therapy.
I have many years experience of working in the field of special educational needs and disabilities managing a large team of staff. As well as supporting families and young people I have supported employees through a variety of challenging times including terminal illness.
